How to Make Sweet Pumpkin Candy (Dulce De Calabaza)
Ingredients
- 1 pound of pumpkin
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Pumpkin
- Peel and cut the pumpkin into small cubes.
- In a saucepan, add the pumpkin cubes and enough water to cover them.
- Cook the pumpkin cubes over medium heat until they are soft.
Step 2: Making the Candy
- Drain the cooked pumpkin and mash it until it is smooth.
- In a saucepan, add the mashed pumpkin, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla extract.
- Mix all the ingredients together and cook over low heat until the mixture thickens.
- Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool.
Step 3: Serving the Candy
- Once the candy has cooled, shape it into small balls or bars and serve.
- The candy can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
